Band of Outsiders continues its collaboration with Sperry on a new assortment of releases for Spring/Summer 2010. Having already seen a couple of models drop the past couple of months, these follow much of the same aesthetic with both subdued and vibrant selections made available. Highlighting this collection is the original 3-eye and chukka boot. Look for these through finer Sperry accounts. (hypebeast)

Thorocraft Shoes

All these shoes are from indie shoe-maker Thorocraft. Their simple silhouettes and flat soles are right up my alley, and while the weather is currently not suitable for high tops here in NY, I think the quality and craftsmanship that these shoes and boots offer  appear excellent. They are available through Thorocraft’s own website and range between $180-260

Vanishing Elephant knows what we really want, as these Fairmont Oxfords prove. A combination of leather and canvas do the trick on the uppers, giving you both breathability and durability. These lightweight lace-ups are something we’ve been sorely lacking in our closets, making them a real coup. Available now at Need Supply Co. ‘(definitivetouch)

Minimalist, creative, avant-gardist, Martin Margiela’s style is unique. This season still, he presents a collection of ré-interpreted basic pieces, a revival of classics easily portable and perfectly cut. We also find recurring capsules collections; the Fight Aids tee-shirts which the profits of sales are put back in the fight against AIDS and the German Army sneakers which have become collector’s items. Available at Colette for 365 euro.

For s/s Doma explores the delicate balance of human forms, harmonising the ongoing dialogue between body and soul within his collection. Oversized, almost floating elements are meant to provide space between skin and garment, representing a new spiritual freedom. Doma eliminates the unnecessary, concentrating on the essentials of shape and form while a lack of buttons and trim heighten the wearer’s appreciation of simplicity. Our relationship with nature is seen through colour. White symbolises purity, red is blood and energy and black is thoughtfulness -the beginning, the end and what is yet to be discovered. Will cost about $1050, I’ll update regarding availability soon.

Opening Ceremony has collaborated with Dr. Martens on a new 3 Eye Boot and although it is hard to see what the real difference between the original and this one is, the silhouette has been made somewhat smoother. They cost $180 and are available in Navy Smooth, White, Burgundy, and Green. To see pictures of the rest of the colors. Read the rest of this entry »

The Rachel Comey “Uncle Dans” are a simple dress shoe, with elastic lace and a red (brick) sole (or soul) as they borrow some aesthetic traits from Red Brick Soul shoes, but none the less look sharp. A dress shoe does not need very much detailing to work, just a simple and nice shape. Not too pointy, not too round, not too wide, and not too narrow. These are available at Opening Ceremony for $340
