Traditionally menswear and unisex brand Cassette Playa has branched out into womenswear, although enigmatic designer Carrie Mundane hasn’t sacrificed an iota of her vision in doing so. The London based designer believes that clothing is an extension of the self, the avatar of one’s persona projected into reality – the concept of clothing as a second skin is especially important to her. As a parallel to the Cassette Playa vision, the incorporation of Augmented Reality technology into her runway production brings a whole new level of personality and depth to the collection.

In this short video doc, VICE catches up with Nikki in her NYC studio and gets an in-depth look at the concept behind her photography work. Nikki’s most notable pieces are her “projects” – interacting with different groups of people, she transforms herself into one of them and documents the experience with casual point and shoot snapshots. Her work always involves others; she believes that the self cannot be fully understood outside the context of human interaction.

Brand new video and album from my friend Sal’s band Jumpin’ Quails. Not really a Bruce fan but this track Cover Me from his massively successful album Born in the U.S.A. is 80ies feel the good way. In fact it was recorded as a demo, and the song was to be given to disco queen Donna Summer.
